Dee Buchanan brings more than two decades of policy, communications and political expertise to his clients at OGR. His broad professional experience and relationships benefit OGR’s financial services, health care, venture capital and publicly traded clients.

Dee knows the personalities and understands the politics that influence Congressional Republicans and their decision makers. He completed a twelve-year career in both the House and Senate as a Republican leadership chief of staff who met daily with House leaders and helped plan and execute weekly strategy meetings for the entire House Republican Conference. During that time, Roll Call recognized Dee as a “Fabulous 50” Capitol Hill staffer.

Dee led former House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling’s staff during the 2008 financial crisis and the Congressional response – the Dodd Frank Act. He also managed other high-profile assignments when Hensarling served as co-chairman of the 2011 bipartisan “Super Committee,” as a member of the Congressional Oversight Panel for TARP, and as a member of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform (Simpson-Bowles).

More than a dozen financial service clients – including Fortune 50 companies and several of the nation’s most successful financial services trade associations – have relied upon Dee’s counsel and direct advocacy expertise when engaging with Congress, the U.S. Department of Treasury, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. He also leads OGR teams that serve as the de facto Washington, D.C. office for smaller venture capital funds, companies and trade associations.

Dee grew up in Lubbock, Texas, and graduated from Austin College. He studied conflict resolution at Magee College, University of Ulster, in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. After college, Dee worked for Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX). He lives with his wife and children in Northern Virginia, where he is active in his faith community, volunteers with Special Olympics and leads a Cub Scout den.
